•    People seem to mumble.
  •     You have difficulty using the phone.
  •     You have to ask people to repeat themselves.
  •     People seem to be talking "loud enough", but you still don't understand the words.
  •     You have ringing in your ears (tinnitus)
  •     You have problems with balance.
  •     You find youself getting tired after lectures and meetings where you are forced to listen for long stretches at a time.
  •     You have difficulty understanding womens' or childrens' voices.
  •     You don't notice that the beeper on your watch is going off.

Any or all of these symptoms could indicate a hearing loss. If you experience them, you should get yourself tested.

Of course, if you think that you have a hearing loss, you should make an appointment to see your physician, as a hearing loss also could be indicative of other problems. But there are some telltale signs. You could be experiencing a hearing loss if:
  •   You have difficulty understanding conversations
  •    You need to have the television or radio volumes at high levels
